Okay, so the best overall bakery

is Gourmandise, but for THE best baguettes you must go to Carlucci's, next to Tony Caputos.  I've been lucky enough to eat baguettes from all over France, and the ones in Carlucci's are just as scrumptious:  crusty outside, soft and chewy inside.  (Yes, they are better than the ones at Gourmandise.)  They cost about $2 and you'll want 2 because if you are like me or my spouse, half of one will be gone before you get home.  (Just a little taste...just one more...okay, after this one I better stop sneaking....)  Also grab one of their black and white cookies...LOVE them!  But you have to be early because they go fast.
